One day CRACK and POP

I came out into the world

But no one looked like me

My sisters and brothers

were fluffy cute and yellow

I was ugly big and brown

All the farm animals made fun of me

He’s so ugly

He’s too big

He’s so brown

But Mom always stood up for me

Leave my son alone

I love him

just the way

he is

I grew up a bit

but nothing changed

Everyone still made fun of me

You’re so ugly

Their words hurt me a lot

So I left the farm

As I was walking along a field

two geese called out to me

Hey kids

Do you want to fly with us

I was so happy

But then

The two geese got

shot down by a hunter

Oh boy

I was really scared

I ran into the grasses to hide

But

GRRRRR

A dog found me

and sniffed at my head

Oh no

He’s going to eat me

I thought

But WHEW

The dog just left

I walked and walked

I was really hungry and tired

Right then

I found a little cottage

Oh my

a duck

Come on in

An old lady came out

and took me into the cottage

She thought

I could lay her some eggs

But no eggs

And so the old lady’s hen

and cat made fun of me

Just like the farm animals

I can lay eggs

but not you

The hen said

And the cat teased me too

I can jump high

but not you

Their words hurt me a lot

So I left the cottage

Soon

I found a beautiful lake

Splash

Splash

I had fun swimming

in the cool water

Then

I saw some beautiful

white birds

They were REALLY beautiful

So I said a prayer

Please

Can I be like that too

Winter came

and the lake became ice

I tried swimming more

but it was too cold

One day I fell asleep

on the icy lake

Thank God

A farmer saw me

and took me to his house

I was saved

Let’s catch

the duck

The farmer’s children

liked to chase me around

BANG

CRASH

KABOOM

The children

chased me everywhere

The farmer’s wife

became angry

And yelled at me

Her words hurt me a lot

So I left the farmer’s house

After winter came spring

The winds

became nice and warm

Ah

I felt better

So I tried to flap my wings

FLAP FLAP FLAP

Again and again and again

I flew to

a beautiful garden

And saw the beautiful

white birds again

I remembered my prayer

And I looked down

into the water

And guess what

A big surprise

I looked just like

the beautiful white birds

I was now a beautiful

white SWAN
